https://www.cdc.gov/importation/dogs/approved-care-facilities.html
Relocating a dog from Indonesia to the USA is possible, but it’s no walk in the dog park. The CDC has strict rules for high-risk rabies countries like Indonesia. Here’s your no-fluff breakdown:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Age
Dog must be 6 months or older
Age must be verified by a US-licensed vet using current dental photos
Microchip
Must be ISO-compliant and recorded on all paperwork (vax + lab results)
Vaccinations
Up-to-date DHLPPi (core vaccines)
Rabies vaccine must be given after microchipping
Rabies Titer Test (RNATT)
Done at a CDC-approved lab
NO official CDC waiting period after blood draw, but…
Booking a CDC quarantine facility can take time, so start early
ENTRY POINTS
Dogs from Indonesia can only enter the USA through these 6 CDC-approved airports:
Los Angeles (LAX)
Washington D.C. (IAD)
Atlanta (ATL)
Miami (MIA)
New York (JFK)
Philadelphia (PHL)
🐾 Easiest/most reliable:
Rues Kennel (LAX)
Pender Pet Retreat (Washington D.C.)
CDC APPROVED FACILITY
Must book a facility 30 days before flight
Contact the kennel directly (Anex or Animal Express can help coordinate)
Prices vary — most expensive is LA (~$1750 USD) for overnight stay
Space can be limited, so reserve early

FLIGHT DETAILS & TIPS
Dogs can fly as checked baggage or cargo (varies by airline and airport)
Confirm with the airline: LAX, ATL, and DC are known to accept excess baggage
The person flying doesn’t need to be American — they just need to say they’re the owner or flight volunteer
Animal Express can assist with bookings and logistics
